Timsbury Lionesses U9s Crowned Spring Cup Champions in Remarkable First Season
There’s a real buzz around Timsbury Athletic right now, as our U9 girls team celebrate an incredible achievement — being crowned Spring Cup champions in their very first competitive season 💙⚽
Part of our growing Lionesses section, this group of players have been nothing short of outstanding all year. What makes this success even more special is that several of the girls have been playing up an age group throughout the season, showing confidence and determination well beyond their years.
Alongside lifting their first piece of silverware, the team also went undefeated in their Bristol League campaign — a reflection of their hard work, teamwork and resilience week in, week out.
A Team Effort On and Off the Pitch
This achievement is about so much more than results. It’s been a true team effort, with a fantastic group of volunteer coaches and incredibly supportive parents helping to create an environment where the girls can thrive.
As one club representative put it:
“We’re incredibly proud of this group of girls. To win a cup in their first season and go unbeaten while some of them are playing up an age group is a fantastic achievement. More importantly, they’ve developed so much confidence, teamwork and love for the game, which is what grassroots football is all about.”
Built on Community Values
At Timsbury Athletic, everything we do is rooted in our community.
We strongly believe that football should not be determined by the cost of membership, but by the willingness to take part, work hard and give your best. That approach has helped us keep our fees as low as possible, while still providing a positive and competitive environment for all players.
It’s a model that’s helping more young people access football — and it’s clear to see the impact.
The Rise of the Timsbury Lionesses
The success of this U9 team reflects something bigger happening across the club.
Our Timsbury Lionesses programme has been growing rapidly, providing opportunities for girls aged 4–12 to get involved in football in a fun, inclusive and supportive setting.
It’s now one of the fastest-growing girls-only sections in the local area, attracting new players and volunteers every week.
“It’s been amazing to see how quickly the Lionesses has grown. We’re welcoming new players and volunteers all the time, and this success is a great example of what can happen when a community comes together to support young people.”
Looking Ahead
Following this success, we’re excited to continue building for the future.
We’ll be launching a new U7 girls team next season, creating even more opportunities for young players to start their football journey with us.
We’re also always looking for passionate volunteer coaches who want to help develop the girls’ game locally — no experience needed, just enthusiasm, with full FA training and support provided.
